Easy Soft Bake the SAME Day Sourdough Discard Dinner Roll Recipe with Starter and Yeast

These sourdough dinner rolls are so soft and fluffy, slightly sweet AND you can bake them the same day! No need to mix and wait, you can let the bread maker or stand mixer do the work, let the dough rise, roll and bake. These are a staple through the cooler months for breakfast with butter and plum butter, or with soups and stews or serve them with all the sandwich fixings! Follow the recipe below and weight your dough out to 2.5 OUNCES ...oopsie I realized I said grams in the video ;)

Roll Recipe:
1 cup water
1/2 cup milk
2 Tablespoons butter
2 Tablespoons honey
150 grams fed sourdough starter
550 grams all purpose flour you can use bread flour but I do not feel that it is necessary for this recipe.
1 and 1/2 teaspoons active yeast
1 generous teaspoon salt (8 grams)
Instructions
Put the water, honey, milk, and butter in a microwave bowl.
Heat in the microwave for 1 minute or until the butter and honey are melted and easy to mix in.
Once it is warm and combined, add it into your mixing bowl. Add in your sourdough starter and mix in. Once combined you can add in the flour and yeast. Mix to combine then add in the salt
Knead for 3-4 minutes
Transfer the dough to an oiled clean bowl, cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes until it’s about doubled in size.
Prep your 9x13 baking pan by oiling or spreading butter on the bottom and sides. Divide the dough into 2.5 ounce balls. Shape and fill the pan. You’ll have 15 rolls.
Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes until they’ve doubled in size
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees while the rolls are rising.
Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
As soon as you take the rolls out of the oven, rub or brush butter over the top
Serve warm! If you’re saving them for the next day, let them cool completely then cover the pan with plastic wrap or store in an air tight container.
