This drill isn’t meant to correct someone who’s already supinated. It’s designed to help people who are stuck in pronation re-learn how to access and control supination again.
When we set up, we keep contact through the medial heel, the base of the big toe, and the wedge under the fourth and fifth metatarsals. As we turn the pelvis into that foot, the femur moves into internal rotation and the tibia follows with relative internal rotation. The foot responds by forming the arch and creating a strong supinated position under that leg.
The wedge on the lateral forefoot helps shift pressure medially, which encourages the foot to lift through the midfoot and stabilize the arch. It’s a late stance pattern where the body transitions from pronation into supination to create a rigid lever for push-off.
So this drill helps someone who collapses into pronation learn how to build tension and stability again through the foot and hip.
