Baby Halter Neck Top with Pants | Easy Cutting & Stitching | No-Pattern Viral Kids Outfit

Fabric & basics
Lightweight rayon/crepe or soft cotton, matching thread, elastic for waist and ankles, bias strip for neckline, one long tie strap, usual sewing tools. Add half-inch seam allowance everywhere.

Measurements to note
Chest, top length, armhole depth, hip, pant length, crotch/rise, waist, ankle.

Cutting — Halter neck top
Fold fabric. Mark a rectangle: width = chest divided by four plus ease, length = top length plus hem. Shape neck: neck width ≈ chest divided by twelve, front depth deeper than back; blend into a gentle halter armhole. Slight A-line flare at hem for comfort.
Ruffle: cut a strip length = neckline circumference times one and a half to two, width about three inches; join ends.
Neck casing: cut a bias strip long enough to go around the neckline.
Tie: cut one long strip about one to one-and-a-half inches wide; stitch, turn, and press.

Stitching — Halter neck top
Join side seams. Roll-hem the ruffle’s outer edge, gather to neckline. Place ruffle to neckline, cover with the bias strip to make a casing; stitch, leaving one side open. Feed the tie through the casing and bring it out at one side to knot a bow. Hem the bottom.

Cutting — Pants (elastic ankle like the image)
Use a simple pajama pant draft. On fold: waist line = hip divided by four plus ease; rise = one-fourth hip plus a little; draw front/back crotch curves; taper gently to ankle; length = pant length plus hem/casing. Cut two mirrored pieces. Waistband: separate strip for casing or extend at top.

Stitching — Pants
Sew front crotch, sew back crotch, then side seams and inseams. Make a waistband casing; insert waist elastic = waist minus a little for snug fit; close opening. At hems, sew narrow casings; insert ankle elastic for the gathered look; close openings. Final press.
