There are several suspension bridges between the towns of Frutigen and Adelboden, with the Hohstalden suspension bridge being the undisputed number one. The second longest of these suspension bridges is the Grundsteg.
The first version of this suspension bridge was built by a private individual back in 1923. In 1973, it was taken over by the municipality. In 2000, the ropes, walkway, and railings were replaced. The Grundsteg is regularly inspected and maintained by the municipality of Frutigen, which is also responsible for the bridge.
With a span of 48 meters, it crosses the Entschlige, which flows into the Kander further down near Frutigen.
