Last year I did a video on Bench Press Mechanics, so here is a movement hack for you to try if you are one of those getting shoulder pain (from wherever it maybe) on a bench press or dumbbell press on a bench.
You are aiming to improve the mechanics of your shoulder blade to allow it to retract more naturally in the downward phase of the movement - by doing a dumbbell press on a swiss ball or foam roller. The increased movement means you put less strain through the actual glenohumeral joint and share the load throughout the shoulder complex more evenly.
If this changes your pain for the better you can be sure the mechanics of the bench press are contributing to your pain. If it doesn't get better even with lightening the load you should get that assessed by the Physio, get some treatment if needed and into rehab exercises before returning this the pressing movements.
