In this conversation, I discuss how to cycle heavy lifting with lighter, higher-rep work and plyometrics, and where balance and stability fit. I talk through periodization across four-week blocks, progressive overload, and why a deload is essential to consolidate gains. Here, I explain French contrast training - moving from a few very heavy reps straight into an explosive plyo, then into higher-rep work to harness central nervous system drive and carry strength into power. We also touch on applying this for cyclists and runners and why it’s an advanced approach that needs a strength base and a gradual plyo progression.
