How to Warm Up Before Workouts | Lower Body Training
A proper warm up boosts performance, decreases chance of injury, and can help you make major gains! Here are the steps included in this video:
1). Walk, jog, or bike for 3-5 minutes. This slowly elevates the heart rate, increases circulation, and gets the body ready for drills and dynamic stretching.
2). Drills. Find a space that's 15-20 meters long and perform rhythm drills, skips, or high-knee drills. Work on form first, and then increase your speed.
3). Dynamic stretching. Perform stretches through an active range of motion: piriformis stretch, knee to chest hugs, leg swings, hip circles, and neck circles. It's very important to do these types of stretches and avoid static (stretch and hold) stretches until after you train!
4). Warm up sets. On your first exercise, perform a body weight or a lightweight set of 8-12 reps. Wait 45 seconds to a minute. Add a little more weight and do another set of 8-12 reps.
5). Crush your workout!
